What is Certificates & Government Documents?

Many applications begin with a certificate from a government office. Birth and death certificates are issued by the local registrar under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969; income, caste and domicile certificates by the state revenue department, often through its e-District portal; marriage certificates by the marriage registrar; and police clearance certificates through Passport Seva.

Why is it needed?

Certificates prove who you are and what you are entitled to. Since the 2023 amendment to the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, a birth certificate is the single document that proves date and place of birth for people born after it came into force — and income, caste and domicile certificates open the way to scholarships, reservations and state schemes.
